The simple answer is, unfortunately, no. But we have started looking into some of these other mobile device platforms, specifically Android and Windows 7 Mobile. There are so many cool and interesting features we want to add to iPowerShell, that it is taking up all of our current mobile platform development resources. If you need to edit CSV files most people use Microsoft Excel, which registers as the default editor for the .CSV extension. This is fine on your desktop or laptop computer, but when was the last time you found a Windows 2008 R2 server with Microsoft Office installed?

At that point, your friendly neighborhood administrator recommends using Notepad or some other general purpose text editor you may happen to have on your server or on your toolkit flash drive.

While editing a CSV file in Notepad works, since it is a text file after all, it is far from ideal.

So let me introduce PrimalCSV Community Edition:

PrimalCSV is a dedicated, single file CSV editor you can just place on your flash drive and carry around with you. Since it is a single executable file with as few dependencies as we could manage, this tool requires no installation. It is available in 32 and 64 bit versions.

PrimalCSV is free for personal and non-profit use (please read the End-User-License-Agreement on first startup) and can be downloaded here: Community Tools. Registration is required to access the Community Tools downloads.

Don’t know what iPowerShell is? iPowerShell is an easy to use reference tool for users of Microsoft’s PowerShell scripting language for use on the iPhone or iPod Touch. It contains full descriptions of each and every core PowerShell Version 2 cmdlet, their syntax, parameters and examples of proper usage. It also contains the complete set of “about item” help topics as well as provider and alias help.

iPowerShell includes a quick search function that allows the user to type in partial search terms which results in a pared-down list of PowerShell cmdlets that include the term in their name. For instance, typing in “item” returns “Clear-Item”, “Clear-ItemPropery”, “Copy-Item”, etc. A Cancel button resets the search list to the full list. iPowerShell also includes an alphabetical index bar which takes the user at a touch to the cmdlets that start with any specific letter.

iPowerShell v.2 is all new. Below is a list of the major changes to the product.

1. The user interface has been completely rewritten to use a Tab Bar interface separating out cmdlets, aliases, providers and about help.

2. Added the ability to include 3rd party cmdlet libraries and have included VMware PowerCLI cmdlets with more vendors to come!

3. Added the ability to turn individual cmdlet libraries on and off to help de-clutter user interface.

4. Changed cmdlet, alias, provider and about help detail information to display in an HTML view.

5. Added internal linking of “Related Links” in cmdlets detail information so that you can just tap on a related link and see detailed information for that item.

6. Includes internal web browser so tapping on an external web link will not cause a context shift out of application to Safari.

7. 3rd party vendor cmdlets display a unique icon for easy location.

8. Alias list displays both the alias and the expanded command in the list.

9. HTML displays all allow for pinch zoom and unzoom.

10. All lists and detailed displays can be viewed in both portrait and landscape mode.

And BEST OF ALL, its FREE!!!

The CHM file Microsoft released is a pretty nice graphical way of getting help for the built-in cmdlets but it’s a closed file and information for third party or even other Microsoft snapins is not available and cannot be added.

This new version of our popular Powershell help tool allows importing any xml help file and about files from other vendors and puts all this combined information on your desktop or notebook. Powershell doesn’t even need to be installed in order to use this.

Check your Help -> About and look at the version number, if it’s not 1.0.13 you may want to head over to our Community Tools site and download it in your color and platform of choice.

It shows all open documents as thumbnails and switches the current document temporarily as you hover over a thumbnail.

For those who wish to go with the default Windows 7 thumbnail, which only shows the currently active document, go to View -> Settings and disable Taskbar Thumbnails.
