PowerShell In Production Poll - Closed
Friday, November 21st, 2008 by Jeffery Hicks
We're going to close out the PowerShell in production poll. Thanks to all who responded. The margin narrowed a bit but still over 70% of you, or at least those who frequent the SAPIEN blog, are running PowerShell in a production environment. For organizations who aren't I understand the reasons and believe that PowerShell v2 will bring more of you on board. Of course I hope you won't wait, there's no reason not to at least learning PowerShell. Sure, PowerShell v2.0 will offer lots of new bells and whistles, but you won't have wasted any time learning PowerShell v1.0.   More »

Saturday, October 25th, 2008 by Jeffery Hicks
If you didn't make it to Techmentor this year, you missed out on some great stuff. As promised, here are a collection of zip files with my conference demos. I think I've gathered everything but if there as a particular demo you can't find, let me know and I'll either check my library or attempt to re-create it.   More »

Server 2008 Revealed
Friday, September 19th, 2008 by Jeffery Hicks
I run a few Windows Server 2008 servers in VMWare for my test and demonstration environment. Honestly, I put them up very quickly not really knowing what I was doing, especially with Server Core. If I had the time, I would have looked at Greg Shield's book Windows Server 2008: What's New/What's Changed. Like you I don't have time to read an exhaustive door stop of a book (not that those titles don't have value). What I needed was to learn about only the new Server 2008 features. I've been around long enough to know what a server is. All I needed was information on what was new in Server 2008 and what things changed from Server 2003.   More »
