I've blogged in the past about Wayne Martin and his outstanding list of command line tips. These are one line commands, some complex some simple, that you can use to accomplish a wide range of task. The overall number of tips is to 425 and Wayne recently reorganized them into 7 categories to make it easier for people to digest. There's very little scripting with any of these commands. Most use native or freely available command line tools. But because they are executed from a command line you could incorporate them into a script. I encourage you to check them out.

While getting caught up on my podcast back log I was listening to an episode of Mind of Root. In it Steven Murawski mentioned my Get-Packet and Analyze-Packet PowerShell scripts. One of his (legitimate) issues with Analyze-Packet was the way it presented results. The original version simply wrote information to the console. It didn't use a good object model so that you could format the results the way you wanted. I took this as a challenge to improve the script.

If you've been trying out the Get-Packet script you've seen that there is a great deal of information. I wanted an easy way to analyze the data so I put together a script called Analyze-Packet that will slice and dice a saved network trace and produce a summary report.
